Networking breakfast – Friday 29 November, The Delaunay, London

It was our final networking breakfast of 2024 last Friday at The Delaunay, London, which looked suitably Christmassy for us to round off an enjoyable and valuable series of events this year. At these breakfasts, and at some specially arranged dinners, we have met more than 240 talented marketing and digital senior leaders in person during 2024, and it has been such a pleasure to see their own networks grow as a result.

At this particular event, we spent some time sharing our thoughts and predictions for 2025, discussed the importance of reflecting and planning, along with how to prepare for a busy year ahead.

As a long established and specialist executive firm, we see patterns throughout the year and know that January is one of our busiest months, as organisations place senior leaders to put new strategies into motion. Next month is certainly going to be an active time for recruitment in marketing and digital functions – job briefs are genuinely flying in. While we will fill as many roles as possible before the festive break, several will be pushed into the New Year, so January 2025 is set to be exceptionally busy.

If you’re looking to make your next career move, these breakfast events are ideal for meeting Suzie in person, networking with non-competing peers, and enjoying a delicious breakfast in the heart of London. Each of these events has been fully booked, with an ever-increasing number of people on waiting lists, so we look forward to sharing our January dates in due course.

Some kind words from our guests this time include:

“A brief note to thank you for an excellent event this morning. It was great to meet a new group of high-quality leaders and to hear your insights on the state of the market, tips for positioning, and what to expect over the coming months.”

“Just wanted to say a big thank you for the event last Friday. It was really interesting both in terms of hearing from Suzie and also chatting with some of the other attendees.

Suzie mentioned that we were all probably very good at marketing the businesses/brands that we represent but probably not so great at marketing ourselves and I think she was talking directly to me when she said this! Networking has not been a priority yet I now understand not only it’s importance but also that being in the company of others ‘in the same boat’ can offer some reassurance particularly given the tricky climate we have been in.”

“It was fantastic to meet you and to hear such an honest and practical assessment of the market. I also enjoyed meeting some of the fellow guests and I have connected with a few of them on LinkedIn. Clearly a lot of thought had gone into the table planning and grouping of the guests and it felt like a lovely safe space to share job search experiences and exchange ideas.”

“The breakfast briefing with Suzie this morning was great. Really informative, great discussion and, as expected - really worthwhile perspective on the overall market, it's competitiveness and where it may be headed.”

“Just a quick note to say thank you again for hosting such a fantastic breakfast event on Friday, what a talented people you brought together! The thought and care that went into organising really was apparent and very much appreciated - well done to you and your team!”

“I thought the format was excellent, with a great balance of mingling followed by the sit-down breakfast. The candid overview of the market and the discussion topics were spot on. I met some fantastic people, and it’s always refreshing to hear others’ "war stories" about our career journeys.”

“Thank you for hosting the breakfast, I really enjoyed it and had some fascinating conversations and made some great contacts.”

“Thank you for a wonderful and insightful breakfast on Friday.”

“Thanks so much for breakfast yesterday. These are easily my favourite events”

Also, a big thank you to guests who shared recommendations for courses that may be of benefit to you:

“I would recommend the one from the Kellogg school of marketing called digital marketing, AI and automation. It is on the expensive side, but relevant for those who deal with more than just the UK market. They have some of the most up do date tools, advice and expertise from the US network who are on more of the cutting edge in terms of usage.”

“I did the Oxford introductory course, but the various courses offered by Section, are more hands on and useful.”

“I did the six-week Oxford Uni AI programme and found this really interesting, I also highly recommend the Hubspot courses.”
