Women Count 2022 - a report from The Pipeline

The Pipeline – a leading diversity organisation that we are proud to support – has published its 7th annual Women Count report, where they looked at the number, role and value of women in FTSE 350 executive committees. The aim of this report is simply to make the results known, so that organisations can move towards sustainable gender diversity. 

Key findings include that there are only 12 female CEOs, meaning that 96% of CEOs in FTSE 350 companies are men. In addition, the number of women who hold P&L roles is only at 16% - a figure from two years ago - with just 18% of CFO roles being held by women. These are two gateways to CEO roles. Alongside findings of the recently published Girl Day School Trust report, showing that young women between the ages of 9 and 18 are not inspired by our current leaders, supporting women into senior leadership roles could not be more important.  

The Pipeline’s Co-Founders, Margaret McDonagh and Lorna Fitzsimons, say, “Our message is simple: recruit, retain and promote women by any means necessary. If you want to prosper, take a hammer to the glass ceiling in your firm. Don’t just talk about it, but do something. Instead of a diversity policy, why not write an action plan?”
