A charity that is always on our radar here is upReach - a charity that believes in equal access to top jobs, regardless of social background. So, we were delighted to hear that upReach has received a Third Sector Award for Charity of the Year (Medium).

This prestigious award recognises a truly exceptional year for upReach, whose recent achievements 'attracted the admiration of the sector'.

Among upReach’s many achievements over the past year, Third Sector reports that, 'In 2021/22 upReach worked with 78 employers to offer 436 graduate placements, internships and experience or insight weeks. In 2022 the charity launched the Xperience programme to provide in-person paid work experience to students who were not able to secure a summer internship.' The charity achieved this through free and personalised career support for students, including applications, coaching and mock interviews.

Judges said, “Providing a desperately needed platform to create a fairer society where support is holistic, upReach is changing the lives of young people.”

The upReach Impact Report 2022 shows that 90 per cent of upReach graduates were engaged in highly skilled roles, with salaries £3,500 higher than the average for graduates from similar backgrounds. You can read the full report here
