The Suzie Walker Executive Search team has worked with hundreds of candidates and clients. So, we think it’s time for you to get to know us all a little better, to see what inspires us and what advice we would offer to clients and candidates in this fast-moving recruitment market.

Meet Chloe Burrell, Senior Marketing and Administration Executive. Chloe joined the team in 2021 as the business expanded and the team required more support. It is safe to say that Chloe has hit the ground running and astounds us with her ability to remain so calm and organised during busy times.

Chloe spent a decade in marketing roles with the Internet Advertising Bureau (IAB UK) - the industry body for digital advertising, based in London. She then moved to the Southwest, joining a boutique recruitment agency, in a hands-on role, where she was able to gain valuable insight into building trusted relationships with clients and candidates.

On a daily basis, you will find Chloe liaising with candidates, organising events, and supporting the team with larger projects.

Chloe, what excites you most about your role at Suzie Walker Executive Search?

The variety. It’s always super busy, with new roles to support the team with, candidates to liaise with, events to organise, and ideas to explore. No day looks the same and that makes each day a learning experience, and an opportunity to develop.

Your marketing experience really helps when understanding the priorities of both clients and candidates. What do you think their priorities will be over the next few years?

ESG and flexible working. Their attitudes towards sustainability and how companies approach flexible working. Increasingly, how our day-to-day decisions, both as individuals and businesses, can affect the environment, and how companies are taking action to improve the way we work.

What piece of career advice has stayed with you and could help others just starting out?

All skills and experience are transferrable, and all experience can be valuable – even if it doesn’t obviously fit in with your long-term goals. You never know where experience might take you and how your goals may change along the way.

What is the trickiest interview question you have ever been asked?

One question that I’m sure would be difficult for anyone to answer is, ‘How do you approach someone you disagree with?’ because there are so many scenarios and so many ways to respond with diplomacy. Everyone is different so, be truthful – they want to see the real you.

Who or what inspires you?

People who champion and celebrate the success of others. I love seeing people do well and I love seeing others express joy for their peers’ successes. LinkedIn is great for that – the support and encouragement shared on the platform is a pleasure to see and contribute to.

Finally, what would you tell your younger self?

Decide what ‘success’ looks like to you. It could be money, flexibility, work-life balance, working with a company that shares your values – or, it could be something completely different. There is no point comparing your success to someone else. Your idea of success might change over time, too, and that’s absolutely fine.

Thank you for sharing with us today, Chloe.
