Q&A with Maria Winn, Chief Marketing Officer

In our latest Q&A, Maria Winn shares practical advice on progressing towards C-suite leadership, emphasising the importance of building broad commercial and transformation experience rather than simply moving vertically through increasingly senior roles. She encourages marketers to seek out projects beyond their immediate remit, such as M&A, market expansion and major transformation programmes, while developing a clear understanding of the numbers and business outcomes behind their work.

Maria also highlights the value of finding a sponsor who can actively open doors, building visibility and a distinctive point of view through industry platforms, and deliberately seeking opportunities to present to the Board. Her advice is ultimately about identifying your gaps, building the right experiences and becoming visible as a commercially credible leader ready for the next step.
