Head of Marketing - global travel provider
The brief:
To recruit a Head of Marketing for this leading travel provider, based in the UK but operating globally.
Due to internal time constraints, we were also brought in to offer support and trusted counsel to the talent acquisition team during the recruitment process.
Our client was looking for candidates who could define and executive short- and medium-term campaigns and promotions, aligned with targeted business outcomes. The Head of Marketing was responsible for determining the new brand strategy and executing its phased roll-out. They were also required to develop a personalised, timely and relevant approach to customer engagement, and enhance the understanding of customer needs through market research. Continuing to optimise the performance of marketing activity through robust measurement and evaluation was essential.
A strong and supportive leader of people, able to influence and challenge with data and logic, and commercially tenacious with innovative thinking was important for this role.
The process:
We began the project by researching a target list of sector-specific companies in order to identify the best prospective candidates from within those companies. We contacted prospective candidates with role information and placed a job advert to identify additional candidates within an expanded network.
We shortlisted candidates and funnelled through to interview stages before presenting a full report to the client for consideration. Our shortlist included ten candidates with a wealth of experience and sector suitability. With technical competence and strong leadership skills, we were confident that the candidates presented would be ideally suited both technically and culturally.
This then led to the recruitment of their Head of Marketing, with interviews conducted by both Suzie Walker Executive Search and their internal team.
The result:
Prior to the interviews, the team were able to discuss each candidate with us to fully understand their motivations and strengths before proceeding to their own interview stages. Successful interviews resulted in the ideal candidate for this permanent position within their team, ensuring that expansion plans were supported by a talented team of marketers.
